Ingredients

For the cherry preparation
  • 10 ounces maraschino cherries with stems Make sure to keep the stems on for presentation.
  • 1/4 cup peppermint schnapps Feel free to substitute with another flavored liqueur.
For the coating
  • 5 ounces white chocolate melting discs Use high-quality melting chocolate for the best results.
  • 1/4 cup peppermint candies, finely crushed You can substitute with other crushed candies for variety.

Method

Preparation
  1. Remove the lid from the jar of maraschino cherries and drain out 1/4 cup of juice.
  2. Pour in 1/4 cup of peppermint schnapps, replace the lid, and let them soak in the refrigerator for at least one hour, or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Once soaked, gently remove the cherries and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  4. Line a tray with parchment paper.
Coating
  1. Melt the white chocolate discs in the microwave according to the package instructions, stirring until smooth.
  2. Dip each cherry into the melted white chocolate, covering about 3/4 of the cherry.
  3. Roll the bottom of the dipped cherry in the crushed peppermint candies and place it on the tray with the stem pointing up.
  4. Continue until all cherries are dipped and garnished.
  5. Refrigerate the tray for about 30 minutes before serving to help the chocolate set.

Notes

Store leftover cherry bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They are best enjoyed fresh but can last up to a week.
