Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil or vegan butter Either can be used as a substitute for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
For the filling
  • 3-4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Be generous for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, coconut oil (or vegan butter), powdered sugar, and salt until it achieves a crumbly texture.
  3. Gradually add in the cold water until the dough forms.
  4. Dust your countertop with flour, roll out the dough, and press it into a tart pan, pricking the bottom with a fork.
Filling
  1. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  2. Arrange the apple mixture over the dough in the tart pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  2. Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. A scoop of coconut ice cream or vegan caramel sauce makes it even better. Store in an airtight container for up to three days, or in the fridge for a week.
