Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until frothy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while increasing the speed to high until glossy peaks form.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  6. Divide the meringue into two bowls, adding green food coloring to one bowl and mixing until well-blended.
Piping and Baking
  1. Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheets.
  2. If desired, sprinkle with edible glitter or sprinkles.
  3. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until dry to the touch.
  4. Turn off the oven and let the cookies cool inside.
Serving
  1. Once cooled, dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
  2. Serve as a charming centerpiece or festive treat.
