Ingredients

For the filling
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use other cheeses if desired.
  • 1 cup cooked brisket, chopped Can substitute with pulled pork or chicken.
  • 1/2 cup jalapeños, diced Adjust based on spice preference.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped Adds freshness to the filling.
For assembly and cooking
  • 8 pieces egg roll wrappers Ensure they are not dried out.
  • Oil for frying Choose a neutral oil with a high smoke point.
  • Honey for drizzling Add more or less based on preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, brisket, jalapeños, and green onions. Stir until the mixture is well-blended and creamy.
  2. Place a spoonful of this delicious filling onto each egg roll wrapper. Make sure not to overfill; you want them to seal nicely.
  3. Fold the wrapper over the filling, tucking in the sides to create a neat little package. Seal the edges with a bit of water.
Cooking
  1. In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat. You want enough oil for frying, but not so much that it overflows.
  2. Fry the egg rolls until they turn golden brown and crispy—about 3-4 minutes each side. Keep a close eye on them; they’ll change color quickly!
  3. Remove the egg rolls from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Drizzle with honey before serving. Serve these delightful egg rolls hot with a side of your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to restore crispiness, avoiding the microwave.
