Ingredients

Mint Mixture
  • 1 tbsp butter (softened) Make sure it's soft for easy mixing.
  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature) Room temperature ensures a smooth mixture.
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tsp grated orange peel (freshly zested) For fresh citrus flavor.
  • 1-2 drops orange gel coloring Optional for added color.
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar (sifted) Sift to break up lumps and ensure smooth texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Zest your orange and sift the confectioners’ sugar through a fine mesh strainer.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter. Stir until smooth (1-2 minutes).
  3. Add the orange extract and fresh orange zest, mixing until fully combined.
  4. If desired, add 1-2 drops of orange gel coloring and mix until uniform.
  5. Gradually add the sifted confectioners’ sugar in three additions, mixing until a thick, moldable dough forms.
Shaping
  1. Roll the dough into 1/2-inch balls and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Gently flatten each ball with the back of a fork.
  3. Refrigerate for 1 hour to firm up the mints.
Serving and Storage
  1. Serve on a beautiful platter, optionally topping with a sprinkle of orange zest.
  2. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

Do not rush the cooling process; this helps maintain the shape. You can adjust the amount of orange extract to taste. For added indulgence, consider dipping in white chocolate.
