Ingredients
  

For the icing
  • 2.25 cups powdered sugar Sifted for a smoother consistency
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon clear vanilla flavoring Can be substituted with vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract Optional; swap for other extracts if desired
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk Adjust to achieve desired consistency
  • as needed drops Gel food coloring Use various colors for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, stir together powdered sugar, corn syrup, clear vanilla, almond extract, and milk until smooth and lump-free.
  2. Divide the icing into four small bowls and add 3 to 5 drops of gel food coloring to each. Mix well to create vibrant colors.
  3. Pour the icing into quart-size Ziploc bags or piping bags. Snip off the tip when ready to use.
  4. Decorate your cookies with the colored icing and allow them to set for 12-24 hours.

Notes

Store unused icing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Adjust thickness as needed by adding more powdered sugar or milk.
