Ingredients
  

For the cookie tree
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries 18 large strawberries (plus extra just in case)
  • 24 ounces dark green candy melts two 12-ounce packages
  • 1 package frosted oatmeal cookies 18 cookies
  • 1/4 cup multi-colored nonpareils For decoration
  • 18 pieces yellow star candies To crown the trees

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the strawberries gently under cool water, then pat them dry with care.
  2. Remove the leafy tops from the strawberries, creating a flat base for each berry.
Melting Candy
  1. Melt the candy melts in a double boiler over softly simmering water, stirring slowly until smooth.
Dipping Strawberries
  1. Dip each strawberry into the melted candy, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl.
  2. Place the dipped strawberry onto the center of a frosted oatmeal cookie.
  3. For extra adhesion, add a dollop of melted candy onto the cookie before placing the strawberry.
Decoration
  1. Sprinkle nonpareils over the candy-coated strawberries before the candy hardens.
  2. Crown each cookie tree with a yellow star candy.
Serving
  1. Present on a delicate platter to allow the cookie trees to shine.
