Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares or rectangles of equal size.
- In the center of each square, place a spoonful of the cream cheese mix and add the pieces of fresh strawberries.
- Fold the pastry over the filling, leaving the sides open for strawberries to peek out, or press the edges with a fork.
- Brush the surface with the beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C (about 400 degrees F).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bundles are golden and puffed.
- Dust with powdered sugar once they have cooled slightly.
Notes
Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or on their own. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. For added zest, mix in lemon zest with the cream cheese.
