Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the green beans to the mixture and stir until well combined.
Baking
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, stir in half of the French fried onions, and return to the oven for another 5 minutes.
- Top with remaining French fried onions and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
- Serve hot as a side dish, paired with roasted meats or comforting starches like rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
If using fresh green beans, blanch them before adding to the casserole for a brighter color and fresh taste. Adjust the seasoning to your liking. A pinch of cayenne can add a nice kick! For a healthier option, try using low-fat cream of mushroom soup or milk. You can add cooked bacon bits or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor, or include shredded cheese on top for a cheesy twist. Can be made a day in advance without the onions.
