  • 500 g Flour (preferably whole grain) Choose organic and unbleached for better nutrition.
  • 350 ml Water Room temperature water works best.
  • 10 g Salt Adjust to taste if needed.
  • 100 g Sourdough starter Ensure your starter is active and bubbly.

Preparation
  1. Mix the flour and water in a big bowl until there are no dry bits.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and salt, and mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl, covering it with a damp cloth.
  5. Let it rise at room temperature for about 12-24 hours, until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside.
  2. Once preheated, carefully remove the Dutch oven and place the dough inside.
  3. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  4. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Sourdough bread is more nutritious and gut-friendly than regular bread. Pair it with healthy toppings like avocados or eggs for a balanced meal. Consider baking at home for better control over ingredients.
