Preparation
- Spray an 8×8-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the sweetened condensed milk and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Add the marshmallows, stirring frequently until melted.
- Remove the pot from heat and fold in the rice cereal with a clean rubber spatula until well coated.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press into an even layer.
- Allow the bars to cool to room temperature before cutting and serving.
Serving
- Let the bars rest until fully set. Use a lightly buttered or sprayed sharp knife to make clean slices.
- Serve on a simple plate to appreciate their pale golden surface and glossy sheen.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze individual bars wrapped tightly for up to 1 month and thaw at room temperature before serving.
