Cookie Base
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter Browned
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, light or dark
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour or 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips Saving a few to press into the tops

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, stirring constantly, until it becomes golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Pour the browned butter into a medium-large heatproof bowl and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Once the butter has cooled, mix in brown sugar and white granulated sugar until combined.
  5. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  6. Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  7. Gently incorporate the chocolate chips, reserving a few for decoration.
  8. Scoop the dough into two balls, placing them on the prepared baking sheet and topping with reserved chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center is puffed.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before enjoying.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or coffee for a delightful experience. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
