Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch round on a floured surface. If using a baking sheet, lightly oil it and press the dough into shape.
  3. Brush the rolled-out dough with olive oil, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly across the base, leaving about an inch for the crust.
  4. Dollop ricotta cheese over the mozzarella in small spoonfuls, then scatter the cooked and crumbled beef sausage over the top.
  5. Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the pizza to taste and season with salt and pepper.
Baking
  1. Slide the pizza into the oven and bake for 10 to 13 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  2. Drizzle with hot honey immediately after baking, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve.

Notes

Serve hot and slightly messy; offer extra hot honey at the table for those who like it spicier. Pair with a crisp green salad or a chilled glass of wine.
