Ingredients
  

For the Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Ensure properly measured.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for best flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Leavening agent.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed tightly.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar For sweetness.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup shredded coconut Can be toasted for more flavor.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a pie pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, blending until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Press the dough into the prepared pie pan evenly.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the edges begin to set.
Topping
  1. Once removed from the oven, let it cool slightly.
  2. Spread caramel sauce over the crust.
  3. Sprinkle shredded coconut and chocolate chips on top.
  4. Drizzle more caramel sauce if desired.
  5. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream and enjoy with coffee or tea. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days.
