Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
For Rolling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for rolling cookies

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until fully combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  2. Roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat.
  3. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  5. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of cold milk or coffee. Store in an airtight container for about a week or freeze for longer storage.
