Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar Adds sweetness and structure.
  • 1 large egg Binds the ingredients together.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Gives a nice nutty flavor.
Coloring
  • Food coloring Add as desired for vibrant colors.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until smooth, then mix in the egg, vanilla, almond extract, and salt.
  4. Gradually fold in the dry mixture until fully combined.
  5. Divide the dough into portions and add food coloring to each, mixing until the desired shades are achieved.
Baking
  1. Roll the colored dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  2. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  3. Cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

These cookies can last up to a week in an airtight container. Experiment with food coloring and consider adding edible glitter before baking for extra fun!
