  • 2 cups cream cheese, softened Not melted, but at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup sugar For sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon For a warm spice note.
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts or pistachios Choose based on preference.
  • 1/4 cup honey Use warmed for drizzling.
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted For brushing phyllo sheets.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter.
  4. Place another sheet of phyllo on top and repeat this process until you have about 5 layers of phyllo dough.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over the phyllo dough.
  6. Sprinkle crushed walnuts or pistachios evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
  7. Roll up the phyllo dough tightly to form a log shape.
  8. Slice the log into bite-sized pieces.
  9. Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the phyllo is golden brown and crispy.
Finishing Touch
  1. While baking, heat honey in a small saucepan over low heat until warmed.
  2. Once the cookies are done, drizzle the warm honey over them before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a sprinkle of cinnamon and extra crushed nuts. Pair with strong coffee or mint tea for a delightful treat. Store in an airtight container for up to 24 hours at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to 3 days.
