Method
Preparation of Crust
- In a spacious bowl, mix the finely crushed Oreos with the melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish and press it firmly into an even layer to form the crust.
- Refrigerate the crust to allow it to firm up while preparing the next layers.
Cream Cheese Layer
- In a separate bowl, beat together the room-temperature cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
- Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip and vanilla extract until combined.
- Add the crushed Oreos and mix gently.
- Spread this creamy mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
- Return the dish to the refrigerator to chill while preparing the pudding layer.
Pudding Layer
- In a large bowl, whisk together the half and half or whole milk with the chocolate pudding mix until it thickens.
- Spread the pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer and sprinkle the additional crushed Oreos on top.
- Chill the dessert for at least five minutes to set the pudding layer.
Final Assembly
- Top the pudding layer with a generous layer of Cool Whip.
- Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top as a garnish.
- Refrigerate for at least four hours, preferably overnight, before serving.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for mixing. Don’t rush the chilling time for firmer layers. Adjust the layers of Cool Whip and crushed Oreos as desired.
