Ingredients

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup Unsalted French Butter (softened) Ensure butter is at room temperature for best texture.
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt (or Fleur de Sel) (for the dough)
For additional flavor
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • 1 tablespoon Citrus Zest (lemon or orange) Experiment with different zest for varied flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy—this should take about 3 minutes.
  2. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and sea salt. Gradually introduce this blend into the wet mixture, folding in gently.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and citrus zest.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them generously.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them and thaw at room temperature when needed. For a unique flavor, sprinkle an extra pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
