Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy—this should take about 3 minutes.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and sea salt. Gradually introduce this blend into the wet mixture, folding in gently.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and citrus zest.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them generously.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
Store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them and thaw at room temperature when needed. For a unique flavor, sprinkle an extra pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
