Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet and slightly flatten each cookie with the back of a spoon.
Baking
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Icing
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
- Spread or drizzle the maple icing over the cooled cookies and top with chopped nuts or white chocolate drizzle if desired.
- Let the icing set for 15–20 minutes before serving.
Notes
