Preparation
- Cream together the butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl until light and airy.
- Add the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until well incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the flour and salt until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough into two parts, kneading in purple gel food coloring to one part and black gel food coloring to the other.
Baking
- Roll each portion into a rectangular shape and layer them together.
- Tightly roll the layers into a log and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill for at least an hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Once chilled, slice the log into rounds.
- Place rounds on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with purple and black sprinkles.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze the cookies.
