Ingredients

For the twists
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (full fat, softened) Use full-fat for a silkier filling.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar or Monterey Jack
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapenos (pickled and/or fresh) Drain pickled jalapeños well to prevent sogginess.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash) Brush gently to achieve a gilded sheen.
For serving
  • Dipping sauces (ranch, sriracha mayo, honey mustard) Offer a variety to contrast the heat.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder until smooth.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry to 1/4 inch thickness and cut it into 2-inch wide strips.
  4. Place a generous amount of the cheese and jalapeno filling on one half of each strip, fold over, seal the edges, and twist to create spirals.
  5. Arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with egg wash.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  2. Cool briefly before serving warm with dipping sauces.

Notes

Store cooled twists in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To refresh, reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 6–8 minutes to restore flakiness.
