Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
For the cheesecake layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Let it come to room temperature for best blending.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the chocolate drizzle
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use good-quality cocoa for a richer flavor.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Can substitute with white chocolate or butterscotch chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it gently.
  4. In another bowl, blend softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy; spread that over the batter in the pan.
  5. Spoon the remaining batter gently on top of the cream cheese layer, covering as best you can.
  6. Whisk together cocoa powder and milk until smooth; drizzle this chocolate mixture over the top layer.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the cake (avoiding the cream cheese layer) comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing so the cream cheese layer sets up tender and neat.

Notes

Serve slices with a cup of strong coffee or milky tea. Store in the refrigerator and consume within 4–5 days. Can freeze portions for up to 2 months.
