Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, melt the butter and then mix in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Baking
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared loaf pan.
- Spoon dollops of the hot fudge sauce on the surface of the batter and gently swirl it in.
- Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the center is set but still soft.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For serving, slice the bread warm and consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store wrapped tightly in plastic or foil for up to four days at room temperature.
