Ingredients
  

For the batter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Ensure butter is fully melted for smoother batter.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the dry ingredients
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour For gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
For the assembly
  • 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce Spoon dollops and swirl into the batter.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Optional for added crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, melt the butter and then mix in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Baking
  1. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Spoon dollops of the hot fudge sauce on the surface of the batter and gently swirl it in.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top if using.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the center is set but still soft.
  5. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For serving, slice the bread warm and consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store wrapped tightly in plastic or foil for up to four days at room temperature.
