  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray an 8x8 inch pan with non-stick spray.
  2. Sift (or whisk) together granulated sugar, cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.
  3. Melt butter and set aside to cool.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat two eggs and vanilla extract with a hand-held mixer.
  5. Add the egg mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just incorporated.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-22 minutes.
Serving Suggestions
  1. Serve warm, torn squares with toppings like vanilla ice cream, flaky sea salt, or espresso-infused caramel.

Notes

Don’t overmix to keep the brownies fudgy. Use room-temperature eggs for better binding. For extra gloss, bake when the batter is fully settled. Sieve cocoa if it's clumpy.
