Ingredients
  

For the Candy
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup clear corn syrup
  • 42 drops food coloring (liquid) 22 drops green, 20 drops red
  • flavoring extract or flavor oil (such as peppermint, vanilla, strawberry, or cotton candy)
  • powdered sugar for coating

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Sift a generous layer of powdered sugar over the bottom of a cookie sheet and set it aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and corn syrup. Gently stir until everything is dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over medium heat without stirring.
  4. Monitor the temperature with a candy thermometer until it reaches 300 degrees F.
Mixing and Pouring
  1. Once the mixture reaches 300°F, remove it from heat and let it cool for 30 seconds to a minute.
  2. Add the food coloring and your chosen flavoring. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Carefully pour the mixture onto the prepared cookie sheet, spreading it evenly.
  4. Sift more powdered sugar on top and let it set for at least 30 minutes.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once set, brush off any excess powdered sugar and break the candy into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Store in an airtight container and enjoy your creations!

Notes

For best results, use a candy thermometer and experiment with flavors and colors to create unique batches. Store the hard candy in an airtight container away from direct sunlight.
