Preparation
- Toss the sesame seeds into a dry skillet over medium heat. Stir gently until they turn golden and release their nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.
- Set the toasted sesame seeds aside.
Cooking
- In a separate saucepan, combine the honey. Heat gently over low heat, stirring until it becomes thick and bubbling, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the honey from heat and stir in the toasted sesame seeds until well combined.
- Grease a baking pan with a drizzle of olive oil. Pour the mixture into the pan, spreading it evenly and pressing down firmly with a spatula.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the mixture cool for at least an hour, then cut into squares or desired shapes.
- Serve with a flourish, pairing it with Greek coffee or dessert wine.
Notes
Store in an airtight container with parchment paper between pieces to prevent sticking. Keep in a cool, dry spot or refrigerator. Candy lasts for weeks!
