  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for best flavor.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa powder.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Helps to enhance the flavors.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semisweet or dark chocolate chips work well.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet with space in between.
Baking
  1. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For a chewier texture, refrigerate them. You can also add walnuts or sea salt for extra flavor.
