Ingredients
  

Turkey Preparation
  • 1 whole fresh or frozen turkey (15 lbs) Fresh turkeys provide richer flavor than frozen.
  • 4 cups cold water For thawing if using the cold water method.
  • 8 oz butter Softened, for under the skin to retain moisture.
Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp rosemary, fresh Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tbsp thyme, fresh Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tbsp sage, dried Classic turkey seasoning.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For mixing with herbs and spices.
  • 1 tbsp salt Essential for seasoning.
  • 1 tbsp pepper Essential for seasoning.
Stuffing (optional)
  • 4 cups bread cubes Base for stuffing.
  • 1 onion, chopped onions, chopped Adds flavor.
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped Adds flavor.
  • 2 cups chicken broth For moisture in stuffing.
  • 1 tbsp poultry seasoning For flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Thaw the turkey in the fridge for approximately 72 hours (24 hours per 5 lbs).
  2. Remove the giblets from the cavity and rinse the turkey under cold water.
  3. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels, ensuring it is thoroughly dried to promote crispy skin.
Seasoning
  1. Mix the rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper to create your seasoning blend.
  2. Rub the softened butter under the skin, then apply the seasoning blend evenly around the turkey.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roast the turkey breast-side down for the first hour, then flip and lower the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).
  3. Baste the turkey every 30 minutes for moisture.
  4. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the breast, and 180°F (82°C) in the thigh.
Serving
  1. Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
  2. Carve the turkey and serve with your desired side dishes.

Notes

For added flavor, consider brining the turkey for several hours or overnight. Creative stuffing can enhance the flavor of the turkey and pair well with various side dishes.
