  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Decorative Ingredients
  • 1 cup colorful sprinkles

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set it aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well blended.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough and add swirling mists of food coloring to create festive colors.
  7. Roll the colored dough into balls and coat each one in sprinkles.
Baking
  1. Place the dough balls on ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For softer cookies, avoid overbaking. Optionally, experiment with various sprinkles or add flavors like cinnamon or almond extract for flavor depth. You can also add orange or lemon extract for a refreshing twist.
