  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or nuts (optional) Optional.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for fall flavor) Optional for additional flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
  7. Scoop dough onto cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool on a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, avoid over-baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
