Ingredients

For the custard
  • 3 cups eggnog
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
For the bread pudding
  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (such as brioche or challah)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Optional toppings
  • powdered sugar
  • caramel sauce
  • whipped cream

Method

Prepare the Bread and Custard
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggnog, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk together until smooth.
  3. Fold in the cubed bread, ensuring each piece is soaked in the custard. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
Assemble the Bread Pudding
  1. Lightly grease a baking dish with melted butter and pour in the custard-soaked bread mixture. Press down gently.
Bake the Bread Pudding
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.
Cool and Serve
  1. Allow it to cool slightly, then optionally sprinkle with powdered sugar, drizzle with caramel sauce, or serve with whipped cream.

Notes

For extra richness, swap out some eggnog for cream in the custard mixture. Feel free to experiment with spices or add chocolate chips or dried fruits.
