  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Add slowly to prevent bubbling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Adjust to taste.

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, toss the granulated sugar into the pan and stir constantly until melted into a smooth, amber-colored liquid.
  2. Carefully add the butter and stir until melted and blended with the sugar.
  3. Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring continuously to avoid bubbling. Keep stirring until smooth.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt. Adjust salt to taste.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool on the countertop. It will thicken as it cools.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks. Gently warm in the microwave before serving.
