  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Can be substituted with dairy-free alternatives.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Topping
  • 1/4 cup sugar For sprinkling on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the brown sugar and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Stir in the egg and add the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Sprinkle the extra sugar over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let them cool a bit before cutting into squares.

Notes
