Blondie Base Ingredients
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure butter is fully melted for best texture.
  • ¼ cup honey Can substitute with maple syrup or agave syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed Use packed to enhance sweetness.
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided Separate into two portions for mixing and topping.
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping) Can substitute with brown sugar for a richer flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk the melted butter and brown sugar until combined.
  3. Add the egg, honey, and vanilla extract. Whisk until everything is mixed well.
  4. Stir in the flour, salt, and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and the remaining ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the blondies to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

These blondies are delightful on their own, but can also be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzled with caramel sauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
