Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar can increase to suit taste
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the yeast with warm milk and let it rest for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  3. Make a well in the dry mixture and add the melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf or round.
  3. Place the shaped dough into a greased baking pan and allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Cooling
  1. Allow the bread to cool before slicing.

Notes

Wrap leftovers in a linen cloth or plastic wrap to keep soft. Store in a cool, dry place for up to three days or freeze for up to a month. Allow ingredients to reach room temperature before starting for best results.
