Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast with warm milk and let it rest for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
- Make a well in the dry mixture and add the melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf or round.
- Place the shaped dough into a greased baking pan and allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Cooling
- Allow the bread to cool before slicing.
Notes
Wrap leftovers in a linen cloth or plastic wrap to keep soft. Store in a cool, dry place for up to three days or freeze for up to a month. Allow ingredients to reach room temperature before starting for best results.
