Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, then stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth and velvety.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
Frosting
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter and cocoa powder together, then gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Slowly mix in the heavy cream until the mixture becomes smooth and fluffy.
- Frost each layer of the cooled cakes generously and savor the moment!
