Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly spray a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and cocoa powder.
- Melt the butter and 1/4 cup chocolate chips together in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Combine the melted butter mixture with the eggs and vanilla, then fold into the dry ingredients.
- Press the batter firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Scatter halved cherries on top of the batter, followed by semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the layers.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 28 to 30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool and set overnight before cutting into bars.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for several days; refrigerating will prolong freshness, but allow to come to room temperature before serving. Experiment with different types of cherries or add nuts for added texture.
