Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Regular or almond milk can be used.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For a richer flavor, consider using melted chocolate.
  • 1/4 cup milk powder Enhances creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Thickening agent.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor.
  • a pinch salt Balances sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Optional, for added richness.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, milk powder, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat, continuously stirring until the mixture thickens into a creamy pudding.
  3. Once the desired consistency is reached, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and butter, allowing the butter to melt fully.
  4. Pour the pudding into dessert dishes or a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
  5. Chill for a minimum of two hours to set and deepen flavor.

Notes

Whisk continuously to avoid lumps. Adjust sweetness by tweaking the sugar amount. Consider infusing milk with espresso for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
