Ingredients
  

Crust and Filling
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling)
  • as needed Flour (for dusting)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crusts on a floured surface.
  3. Use a Christmas tree-shaped cutter to cut out shapes from the crust.
  4. Place a small spoonful of cherry pie filling in the center of half of the cut shapes.
  5. Brush the edges of each bottom crust with egg wash.
  6. Place a matching shape on top, sealing the pie.
  7. Press the edges with a fork to seal and make small slits on top.
  8. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
Baking
  1. Bake the hand pies for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a dash of almond extract to the filling. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
