Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup butter Melted
  • 6 oz unsweetened chocolate Melted with butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
Cream Cheese Layer
  • 2 8 oz cream cheese Use full-fat for best texture
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
Topping
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 tsp vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate together.
  4. Stir in 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp salt, and 4 eggs.
  5. Mix in 1 1/4 cups flour until just combined.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Spread half the brownie batter into a greased baking dish.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie base.
  3. Spoon the cherry pie filling on top, then layer the remaining brownie batter over it.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until the top is set and center has a faint jiggle.
  5. Chill for at least 4 hours before slicing.

Notes

Serve chilled for best results. Use a sharp knife for clean slices and consider adding a dollop of whipped cream or toasted almond slivers for serving.
