Ingredients
  

For the beef layer
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use lean ground beef for a lighter option.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
For the rice mixture
  • 3 cups Cooked Rice Day-old rice works best.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Melted.
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) Saute until fragrant.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Can swap with half-and-half for a lighter version.
For the topping
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded) Use sharp cheddar for flavor.
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese (shredded) For stretch and meltiness.

Method
 

Preparation of Beef Layer
  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika. Drain grease and set aside.
Preparation of Rice Mixture
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and add minced garlic, sauteing until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the cooked rice, beef broth, and heavy cream, simmering until creamy.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Grease a baking dish and spread the garlic rice mixture as the base.
  2. Layer the seasoned beef on top of the rice.
  3. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F until the cheese is melted and bubbly, optionally broil for a golden top.
  5. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Garnish with chopped parsley or green onion before serving. Serve alongside a simple salad or buttered green beans. Optionally, you can swap ground turkey or pork for the beef.
