Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, blending until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, salt, and optional cornstarch.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop small balls of dough (about 1 inch in diameter) and roll them gently.
- Place the balls on prepared baking sheets, two inches apart, and press them lightly to flatten.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
- Allow them to cool on a rack before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze wrapped tightly in cling film.
