Ingredients
  

For the cake base
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Any brand will work.
  • 3 large eggs Eggs should be at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with melted coconut oil.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk recommended for richness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is best.
For the marshmallow filling
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened (8 oz) Make sure it's fully softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup marshmallow fluff Fluff gives a sweet and airy texture.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Can adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 container whipped topping (8 oz) Home-made whipped cream can be used.
For assembly
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted For drizzling over the casserole.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared baking dish.
Making the filling
  1. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and powdered sugar until creamy.
  2. Gently fold in the whipped topping until light and fluffy.
  3. Spoon the marshmallow filling evenly over the chocolate batter layer.
Final Assembly
  1. Carefully spread the remaining chocolate batter over the top.
  2. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the casserole and drizzle melted butter across it.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the center is mostly set and the top is rich and fudgy.
  4. Let it cool slightly before serving warm, ideally with a splash of cold milk.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave before serving.
