  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji) Choose firm apples for best results.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg Can substitute with a flax 'egg' for vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup milk Use plant-based milk for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes Use crushed cornflakes for extra crunch.
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Cooking spray For greasing the air fryer basket.
  • Optional toppings: Powdered sugar or drizzle of honey For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375 F (190 C).
  2. Slice apples into 1/4-inch rings and remove the cores with a small round cutter.
Battering the Rings
  1. In one bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. In another, whisk together egg and milk.
  3. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
  4. Dip each apple ring into the flour, then the egg mixture, and finally coat with the cinnamon breadcrumb mix.
Cooking
  1. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the rings in a single layer.
  2. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey before serving warm.

Notes

Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Recrisp them in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes at 350 F (175 C) before serving. Choose firm apples to help the rings hold shape and get crisp.
