Ingredients
  

Fritter Batter
  • 2 cups diced apples Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Add nutmeg or cardamom for extra flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk Adjust as needed for gluten-free batter.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray or oil for air fryer

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the basket, making sure they are not touching.
  4. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
Serving
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with powdered sugar, honey, or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Cool completely, then store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Refrigerate for longer storage and reheat to restore crispness. For a glaze, mix powdered sugar with a teaspoon of milk and drizzle over warm fritters.
