- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp mustard powder
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain.
- Shred the cheese and prepare your ingredients.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour to form a roux.
- Gradually add milk and cream while whisking to avoid lumps.
- Stir in the cheese blend until smooth and melted.
- Drain the pasta and mix it with the cheese sauce, adding reserved pasta water if too thick.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer mac and cheese to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs and drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Notes
Feel free to add bacon bits, jalapeños, or lobster for extra flavor. This dish can be made ahead and is freezer-friendly.
