A delightful dessert featuring caramel, crunchy pecans, and a soft fluffy cake, perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until combined. Cook for about 2 minutes until it starts to bubble. Remove from heat and pour this mixture into a round cake pan.
- Sprinkle the pecan halves over the caramel in the cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and milk, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the cake batter over the pecans in the cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully flip it onto a serving plate.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, toast the pecans before adding. Watch the caramel closely to avoid burning.
